Description

The programme

This one day workshop will introduce participants to complexity theory and how it can be applied to organisations using real life examples, including a current case study using complexity theory in the operating theatres of an acute hospital.

The world of healthcare is complex – with interdependent systems, multiple points of change, stakeholders with different interests and many possible ways forward; all of which are uncertain.

An understanding of complexity theory can help you work with the characteristics of your organisations as complex social systems. We often unintentionally constrain these characteristics and create the opposite effect to that desired.

The workshop will be interesting and useful to anyone working on change especially if that change has deep-rooted challenges and/or crosses organisational boundaries. It is also useful to people working in strategy, organisational development or large scale change.

The workshop will offer new and stimulating ideas, with opportunities to explore and apply them to your situation, working in small groups.:

You will:

  • become familiar with key principles of Complexity Theory necessary for organisational transformation
  • learn how to work with those principles instead of unintentionally constraining them and thus setting into motion undesirable consequences
  • be able to co-create an Enabling Environment to facilitate organisational transformation
